Greetings!! I hope this blog finds you well. This past Monday our nation observed Memorial Day, a day when our nation stops, reflects, and remembers those who died while serving in our nation’s military. I am very grateful for those who sacrificed and gave their lives for my family and me. Thank you! I am also very grateful for those who have served our country and for those who are currently serving. Thank you! Memorial Day is so much more than backyard barbecues, family outings, playing golf and going to the pool. Memorial Day is a day we remember as a nation those who paid the ultimate sacrifice by giving their lives for us that we can enjoy freedom. I am truly grateful for all those who died while serving in our military and the ultimate sacrifice you gave, your life!
I am also very grateful for the sacrifice of my Savior, Jesus Christ. The Bible says that Jesus Christ suffered one of the most grueling and painful forms of capital punishment ever devised by man. The night before his crucifixion, Jesus was in extreme agony. How do I do know this? Well, the Bible says in Luke 22 that his agony and stress was so great that he began to sweat drops of blood. Christ knew he was about to endure agony.
We should remember today and for the rest of our lives the high cost of our salvation. Salvation is free for us, but it cost Jesus dearly. He paid for our sins with His body and His blood. He paid it all with his very life. Thank you Jesus for paying my sin debt in full!!
Well summer time is just around the corner! As summer time arrives, I pray that you and I will still include God in our summer plans this year. Often times when summer arrives and the temperatures get warmer, we are often tempted to skip church and put God on the back burner. I hope and pray that you and I don’t do this. I hope you and I will include God in our summer plans and always put Him first in our lives. The Bible is clear that our God wants first place in our heart, not second or third, but first! Yes, enjoy your summer but please stay connected to Christ!
I hope you and your child(s) or grandchild(s) will be able to join us this year for Vacation Bible School Sunday starting June 23rd-Thursday June 27th. Our theme for VBS this year is “Country and Western” and the title of this year’s VBS is “Barnyard VBS.” It would be our pleasure and joy to have you and your family join us for worship on Sunday June 23rd at the 11:00am service to kickoff VBS. Please dress casual or in your best western attire. I will be wearing cowboy boots on Sunday morning when I preach (ha-ha). Dinner will be served in our Fellowship Hall each evening starting at 5:30 and VBS will be held from 6:00 to 8:00pm each night. I promise you two things: 1) your child will have a wonderful time at VBS 2) your child will learn about Jesus. Each night at VBS we will have crafts, sing songs, Bible lessons, food and much, much more. If you have any additional questions please contact me at 336-693-5335!
We have so great things coming up this summer at Long’s Chapel church please refer to the church bulletin, church Facebook page and church website for all upcoming activities. Again, let’s not put God on the backburner this summer but include Him in our summer plans.
