In just a few short weeks, we will celebrate the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ. The Bible says the following in Luke 2: “Rejoice I bring you good news of great joy for everyone. The Savior yes, the Messiah, the Lord has been born tonight in Bethlehem, the city of David!” What took place this night in Bethlehem is the greatest event in human history! The Messiah is born! For ages the Jews had waited for His birth to take place and it finally occurred, and the announcement came to humble shepherds while there were working in the fields. The good news about Jesus is that he comes to anyone who has a humble heart and who is earnestly seeking him. He offers to everyone the free gift of salvation and if you accept Him as your Lord and Savior it will be the greatest gift you will ever receive.
We see in John 3:16 God’s motive on why He sent His Son. His love! For God so loved the world, He gave His only begotten Son. The word begotten in Greek means unique, it means one of a kind, the only one. It brings my heart great joy that God the Father God did not send Jesus to earth in anger but He sent His Son in love.
God the Father loves mankind so much that He gave His one of a kind, unique, beloved Son. That is how much God loves the world that is how much God loves Mankind and that is how much God loves you! The gift of His Son is for everyone: regardless of age, gender, height or shortness, educational level the good news is for everyone.
We learn three very important things from John 3:16,
1) Jesus Christ is a gift. Whoever receives this gift and believes in Christ will be saved and will receive everlasting life.
2) Whoever believes and puts their faith in Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior, they will have eternal life.
3) Packed into one sentence, one verse—John 3:16—is all the information anyone needs to be saved. Christmas is a serious time for us to reflect about our eternal destiny.
In John 3:18 we the following plea from Jesus, and His plea is this for us to believe in name of God’s one and only Son. Believe in Him that is Christ plea. I humbly believe you and I should believe the following seven things about Jesus:
1) Believe that Jesus is the God-man. He is more than a prophet; He is the God-Man. 2) Believe that Jesus paid your sin debt in full. 3) Believe that Jesus is the only way to Heaven. 4) Believe that Jesus arose again and conquered the grave. 5) Believe in His Word, the Bible. 6) Believe by being obedient to Jesus and to His Word. 7) Believe by putting your trust in Him as your Lord and Savior. My plea to you is believe in Jesus Christ as trust Him as your Savior!
