Summer is finally here!! And my son, Micah is excited. He is looking forward to going to Ohio in early July to see his relatives and then later in July he is going to the waterslides in Greensboro. Last year, to Micah’s chagrin, he did not meet the height requirements for the waterslides but this year he just made the height requirement and boy he is excited to go on the bigger waterslides! Me - not so much!
I know when the weather gets warmer that we are easily tempted to skip church and do other summer things. I get it! I get it that most families go to the beach for vacation and are away from home. But when you are home this summer may I encourage you not to take a vacation from God this summer, but stay connected to Him. Most pastors accept the fact that many people in their congregation are just going to skip church in the summer and come back when school starts. This fact is widely accepted in the Christian church but should it be? In all humility, I don’t think it should. And that is why I want to encourage you to stay connected to God this summer and stay involved in church. Again, God does not want us to take a vacation from Him this summer, but stay connected to Him.
I hope that you and your family will be able to join us for: Long's Chapel Putt-Putt Golf Night! Date: July 16th. Meet: At Putt-Putt Miniature Golf on North Church Street Time: 3 - 5 p.m. How much? 2 games of golf and twenty tokens would cost $8.00 per person (group rate.). Who can come: Everyone is invited. Please let me (RJ) know by July 13th if you or any member of your family will be joining us, thank you!
Also, coming up on May 23rd at the 11:00 a.m. service we are hosting, “The Directors Trio” from Lakeview Church. If you and your family enjoy upbeat gospel music you will love, “The Directors Trio.” And an added bonus, I will not be preaching at the 11:00 Service (please do not cheer) so we can give more time for “The Directors Trio.” I hope you and your family can join us.
We always have exciting things coming up at Long’s Chapel Christian Church. Please refer to the church website and bulletin for all pertinent information.
If you have no church home we would love for you to join us on Sunday mornings at Long’s Chapel Christian Church for worship. We are proud to offer two services to choose from: 8:30 a.m. (contemporary) or 11:00 a.m. (traditional). We look forward to having you worship our Lord with us! I hope you walk in a manner worthy of the Lord.
