Christmas is just a few short weeks away. I don’t know about you, but I just love Christmas time! I just love listening to Christmas music, eating all those holiday goodies and watching all those holiday specials on TV. On a side note, my favorite Christmas cartoon is “It’s a Charlie Brown Christmas.” I watch this cartoon every year and I don’t care if I am 46 years old. For the last five years I have had the blessing to watch this cartoon with my son, Micah and he loves it just like his dad. Watching this cartoon with my son makes watching this cartoon even more special.
This month at Long’s Chapel Christian Church we celebrate the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ! The Bible says the following in Luke 2: “Rejoice I bring you good news of great joy for everyone. The Savior yes, the Messiah, the Lord has been born tonight in Bethlehem, the city of David!” What took place that night in Bethlehem is the greatest event in human history! The Messiah had been born! For ages the Jews had waited for this birth to take place and it finally occurred, and the announcement came to humble shepherds while there were working in the fields. The good news about Jesus is that he comes to anyone who has a humble heart and who is earnestly seeking him. He offers to everyone the gift of salvation and if you accepted Him it will be the greatest gift you will ever receive.
During the month of December we will be taking a break from our current sermon series, “The Sermon on the Mount” from Matthew Chapter five, Jesus’ first sermon. We will resume this series in January. In the month of December, I will be preaching on the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ at both services (8:30 &11:00 a.m.). I hope you and your family will be able to join us as we celebrate the birth of our Savior!
We have so many wonderful things coming up in the month of December at Long’s Chapel: Family Movie Night on Saturday, December 3rd we will be showing the Christian Movie, “God’s Not Dead 2” at 7:30 p.m. in the church sanctuary and at 7:00 p.m., popcorn and drinks will be served in the Fellowship Hall. On December 18, we will have our Children’s Christmas program in the sanctuary starting at 6 p.m. and afterwards, refreshments will be served in the Fellowship Hall. The kids have been working very hard on this program and I would encourage you to come and watch them perform. You will be glad you did. I promise you don’t want to miss these wonderful events coming up.
