Hello friends! October is here! The weather is getting cooler and the days are getting shorter.  Fall is here and thank the Lord for cooler temperatures!

Well, I am sure you know by now that the presidential election is almost here.  All you see on TV and on the news is politics.  On a personal note, I don’t much care for the mud –slinging from either candidate.  I feel in my heart that this sets a bad tone for our nation. I just wish both candidates would stick with the issues.

With the election being around a month away I hope and pray that you will seek the Lord’s guidance before you vote for our next President. And no matter whom the next President is I hope and pray that we will commit ourselves right now to pray for our President.  There are many issues facing our country and whoever the President will be they need to be covered in prayer.

I am truly looking forward to going to Pastor Franklin Graham’s prayer rally in Raleigh, NC on Thursday, October 14.  Pastor Graham and other spiritual leaders that I respect are urging Christians to pray for our nation.  I am truly looking forward to praying for our nation with Pastor Graham and other Christians.  The Bible says the following in 2 Chronicles 7:14, if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. Friends, with everything that is happening in our world we need to pray every day. Pray for your church. Pray for the sick!  Pray that our nation and world would turn back to God. Pray that our nation would not walk in sin!  Pray that people would seek Him. Pray that people would walk humbly with their God.  Pray for the lost and pray for our leaders and first responders. Pray for these things every day.

I hope you and your family will be able to join us during the month of October as we are continuing our sermon series at both worship services in Matthew Chapter five, Jesus Sermon on the Mount. We will discover in this series, Jesus challenging the teachings of the proud and legalistic religious leaders of His day and He is encouraging His followers that God wants heartfelt obedience not mere legalistic observance of laws and rituals.  Furthermore, in this sermon series Jesus will be teaching us a standard of conduct that He wants all believers to follow.  I hope you and your family will be able to join us!

Wednesday Night Bible Study has started back up from 6:15-7:15p.m. in our church fellowship hall. We will be going through verse by verse in the book of John.  Please come and join us for coffee, fellowship and good discussion as we study the book of John.

We have so many great things coming up this fall at Long’s Chapel church please refer to the church bulletin, church Facebook page and church website for all upcoming activities that you don’t want to miss!
